Empowering Excellence in English

Despite only starting with Devyani half way through Year 11 the positive impact she has had on my son’s English Lit and Lang work in the short run-up to this summer’s GCSEs has been excellent. Devyani started tutoring my son following very disappointing mocks and quickly re-instilled his confidence, worked specifically with him on exam technique, and set him stretching homework tasks to consolidate his development. Devyani expects the highest standards from her students and my son really responded well to this. After every single lesson he would talk about the useful and valuable progress he had made, and the improvements in his approach in such a short period of time demonstrate the hugely positive impact Devyani was having. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending her as a wonderful tutor.

I’ve been having A-level tuition with Devyani for few months and give her 5 stars because she has been extremely helpful when teaching me a level English Lit. I feel like I’ve made a big improvement in just a few months. I’m resitting my English Lit A-Level after getting a C last summer. Devyani gives me constructive feedback and adapts her planning to my writing style ensuring I hit all the targets I need to in order to go up my A-level bands. We’ve been working on exam style questions and Devyani gives me a structured plan which we go through during our sessions and I write the response as homework. During the following week she goes over my response giving me detailed feedback and a grade. We’ve worked on past papers including my scri pts from last summers exam. I’m now heading towards getting a grade A. Devyani has a thorough knowledge of the A-Level texts we’re working with and knows what she is talking about. She is understanding, accommodating and is a very lovely woman to work with.

Devyani is an excellent choice when looking for tutors who both provide and fulfil the needs of the parents as well as the needs of the students. She knows just how to adapt and cater to the characteristics and behaviours of your child. She helps your child by first checking in on what they are learning – ensuring that they already have a very solid foundation on said topic. She then proceeds to build upon that foundation by providing them with various texts, past paper, essay questions and many more. She is one of the best English tutors out there. I highly recommend her to any and every age group as she is a very, well rounded teacher.

Fantastic tutor. We contacted Devyani when looking for a last minute English tutor for our son who is doing GCSE and was feeling very nervous. Devyani has been fantastic in reassuring him that he has the capability to do the exam and built his confidence massively over the very few weeks we have been doing the session the change has been remarkably – we cannot thank Devyani enough for supporting our son through this very tricky time.

After a dramatic slide for my son`s predicted grades i was lucky enough to find Devyani and the results to far have been more than promising. The pre-Easter mocks were 6/7 having been 3/4 for the pre-xmas mocks. Devyani is always fantastically quick responding to queries and has adapted the sessions to address concerns or subjects covered in class to cement learning. My daughter has been using Devyani for not far off a year now and I have seen huge improvements not only in her work but more importantly in her interest and love of English. So pleased we found Devyani for our daughter – we thought it might be a little late in the day for tutoring A levels however, after just a few lessons the confidence and change of mind set Devyani has created has made a world of difference, and that is half the battle! She has worked really hard with my daughter to give her a head start on key GCSE topics to include Of Mice and Men, An Inspector Calls and poems for both English Language and Literature for iGCSE Edexcel curriculum. Ms Devyani started with my son in the last leg before his 11+ exams. She was detail oriented, thorough and provided constructive feedback.
